According to insurers, the highest number of thefts – namely 17.6% – this year took place in cars of Korean brands. The most popular models among the kidnappers were Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe, as well as Kia Sorento and Rio. The domestic LADA Granta was quite in demand – 8% of car thefts. The same goes for the Mitsubishi Outlander.
Car thieves continue to “hunt” cars of the popular Toyota brand, namely Camry sedans and SUVs of the Land Cruiser family. Also in the top ten most wanted models of kidnappers are the Honda CR-V and the Infiniti M35. In addition, owners of the Infiniti QX80, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Lexus LX570 are at increased risk of being without a car.
– It is noteworthy that this summer there was an increase in white car thefts (61%), displacing the traditionally most popular black cars (13%) among thieves. Grey, brown and other colors of cars are less likely to attract criminal elements, RIA Novosti quotes a representative of insurance company Soglasie.
