What is the value of modern mobility? In the ability to conquer space or in comfort and the ability not to lose touch with the virtual world of the Internet? Modern cars diligently keep us away from the troubles and annoyances of driving. Is it good? And where can the further evolution of machines lead us? It seems that a trouble-free and comfortable existence deprives a person of the opportunity to develop. Portal “AutoVzglyad” analyzes this problem.

A modern car, which has become an integral part of our hectic life, has long reached a reasonable limit of comfort and speed of movement in space. However, to boost demand, automakers are diligently integrating any technology into their cars that they believe can increase sales.

We are, of course, talking about infotainment and comfort technologies. Now even a budget car is hard to imagine without at least one monitor in it, which displays a huge amount of information. Moreover, not only the one necessary for safe driving.

The car is starting to fill up with infotainment technology. The Internet and visual content have long engaged drivers more than… driving. But in order to drive a car, you need to focus on this process, analyze the situation, control yourself and the vehicle, draw up an action plan for each moment you are behind the wheel.

And this despite the fact that modern vehicles can go fast and even very fast. And suddenly a digital monitor appears in the car, the second and even the third. Joysticks, keys. And, of course, complex interactive menus, more typical of smart gadgets.

At the same time, the driver is diligently relaxed by the climate control, seat ventilation and massage systems. And with state-of-the-art active safety assistants and elements of an autonomous driving system, you can focus even less on driving. As a result, the car is becoming more and more a home office than a tool for moving around in space. The poison of comfort slowly penetrates the defenseless soul of the car owner, making him a slave to technology, able to consume but unwilling to put in the effort.

Yes, and the mobility function (that is, farewell to the car) fades into the background. How does a car differ from a cozy office where you can relax or work comfortably? Why move somewhere? Why waste time and effort on movement when information spreads much faster anyway?

And unfortunately, the evolution from a car to a mobile gadget can lead to an increase in information-rich comfort at the expense of direct driving performance. And mobility as such is beginning to lose its value and will be quietly replaced by information mobility, which no longer requires moving around in the real world. All you need is a fast internet connection. Do car manufacturers understand this?

Maybe. However, the desire for profit here and now does not give them the opportunity to think about what will happen in a few decades. The novel by the famous science fiction writer Stanislav Lem “Return from the Stars” described a situation when humanity plunged so deeply and deeply into a comfortable existence that it completely locked itself in its planet, stopped development and lost the ability to create lost. This writer’s fantasy ended very sadly …

So the car still has to demand certain efforts and skills from us, at least to make mobility, albeit a little, the merit of the one behind the wheel. And the AvtoVzglyad portal strongly recommends that you continue to drive intelligently, without leaving this process at the mercy of artificial intelligence.
