While Elon Musk is more worried about Twitter, Tesla is moving on with his life and should soon deliver news to car owners. According to the BGR portal, one of the upcoming software updates will bring Dolby Atmos to Tesla vehicles. According to the portal, there are more than 1 million vehicles compatible with sound technology, including all new production vehicles.

Dolby Atmos is an audio technology that enhances existing surround sound systems by adding height channels, allowing sounds to be interpreted as three-dimensional objects. The technology debuted in the 2012 Pixar movie Brave and has since found its way into thousands of movie theaters, home theaters and even cars.

Tesla is lagging behind some competitors in the market. Lucid Motors became the first automaker to bring Dolby Atmos audio to its Lucid Air sedan early last year. In the second half of 2022, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz also confirmed that they will bring this technology to their vehicles.

The Volvo EX90 SUV will have Dolby Atmos, while Mercedes-Benz is adding Atmos to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and its EQE, EQE SUV, EQS and EQS SUV electric vehicles.

Apple Music on Tesla

Another novelty that should appear in Tesla vehicles soon is Apple Music. Earlier this week, a fan spotted the app on a Tesla Model S during an exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

Evidence suggests that Apple Music and Apple Spatial Audio also support Dolby Atmos. Apple Music integration is due to arrive on Tesla in 2022 in a year-end update. However, Dolby Atmos support is not expected to be released until 2023.
