How to understand in 5 minutes that you are being sold a “killed” car

Sometimes in the car market it is difficult to immediately determine whether the “iron horse” you like has had an accident or not. However, outbids can see this immediately, by recognizing problem cars by not very obvious external signs. Their observations are shared by the AvtoVzglyad portal.

First of all, we perform external audit. If “rayskin leather” is visible on some body parts or if they stand out strongly in color, they are painted. And it’s careless. To tell the truth, this cannot be considered a strong crime, therefore, in the absence of other “styles”, you can ask for a discount. Bad color does not affect speed.

Pay attention to the condition of the orifices. If they are unequal, this indicates that, for example, the door has been dismantled. Also, the bonnet and boot lid must not be skewed. Know that the human eye can detect even small deviations. So trust yourself and do not listen to the beliefs of the seller, who, of course, “sees nothing”.

Now it’s the turn of the wheel arches. Fender liner must not be wrinkled or loosely attached. If traces of damage are visible even on one of them, then it was torn off or there was a blow. Perhaps there was an uncritical “grinding in” of another participant in the movement and it cost local repairs, or perhaps a serious accident occurred.

We then look for welding marks on the spars or welds under the windshield. These are clear signs that part of the body has been cut and welded. It is better to refuse such a purchase, since the VIN number is omitted here. If it is damaged, the car cannot be registered with the traffic police.

It also happens that they want to hide the traces of restoration of the supporting structure of the body. And they do it quite successfully. Wheels help determine the “killed” vehicle. If the sidewalls of the tires are very worn, this is one of the signs that the car has been in a serious accident. Wear occurs due to the displacement of the wheel axles, which occurred due to the deformation of the power frame.

Finally, remove the rear light unit and shine your light inside. There should be no new welds on the rear wheel arch. But if a sealant is visible there, covered with paint on it, then most likely it is the factory color and there is nothing to fear.
