Monarch Tractor, the smart electric tractor company, announces that the first MK-V smart electric tractors are off the line and ready to go. Model with artificial intelligence uses the NVIDIA Jetson Edge artificial intelligence platform and performs driverless agricultural tasks🇧🇷

According to Monarch Tractor CEO Pravin Penmets, the NVIDIA platform allows the MK-V to run more power efficiently. “NVIDIA Jetson enables the MK-V to run AI applications in real time with low latency while conserving power for longer battery life and runtime.” Each electric tractor uses six modules of the Jetson Xavier NX system, and the vehicle moves through the fields using only cameras. The camera system consists of two 3D cameras and six other traditional models located around the electric tractor.

Jetson edge keeps MK-V safe
In an official statement, NVIDIA and Monarch Tractor claim that the tractor is capable of real-time data collection and analysis through the platform. “Tractor collects and analyzes harvest data every day. This data can be used to make real-time adjustments, estimate long-term yields, current growth stages, and other indicators related to plant and crop health.”
Monarch Tractor is headquartered in California and claims to have created the first fully autonomous electric tractor. Including, first six MK-V smarts already have a purpose: Constellation Brands, a wine and spirits corporation. Currently, several models already have semi-autonomous versions that require the presence of a driver. Agriculture giant John Deere also said it is ready to start manufacturing autonomous tractors and is expected to bring a fully autonomous tractor to market in 2023.
There’s no word yet on the price of the MK-V, other than how many units – besides the six shipped by Constellation Brands – the company will put into circulation before the end of the year. With the development of technologies present in electric vehicles, it will be interesting to see how AI can be used by the agricultural sector.
