Apple will soon use US-made chips in its…

CEO Tim Cook wants to start using chips from TSMC’s plant under construction in Arizona starting in 2024.

According to Bloomberg, the project, called “Titanium» employees, stalled for several months. That’s because Apple executives have a distant vision of a fully autonomous car – without a steering wheel or pedals – making the dream a distant one. The project is not considered viable, as there is currently no technology of this level.

A group of executives would be willing to make significant changes to the design to make the car real. With less ambition, the design would have been more commonplace, including the addition of a steering wheel and pedals. However, it will still offer motorway autonomy features.

Looking for the next big thing

Apple faced a big challenge to bring the news to the market. This bold goal runs into several hurdles, mostly technological. In the case of your own vehicle, this will be a new way to generate new profits. Since 2016, Apple has more than doubled spending on new product research. In 2022 alone, he spent $26.3 billion.

Apple is currently planning to develop a vehicle that will allow drivers to perform other tasks — like watching movies and playing video games — on the highway and have enough time to switch to manual control if they get to city streets or encounter adverse weather conditions.

Apple’s previous vision for the car was to offer a “Level 5” lineup, the pinnacle of autonomous driving technology that no other automaker has achieved. The current plan is reviewed below due to its more limited scope.

Apple expected each car to sell for over $120,000, but now it intends to offer cars to consumers for less than $100,000. This will place it in roughly the same price range as the base Tesla Model S and Mercedes-Benz EQS.
