The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the decision of the board of directors of AvtoVAZ to produce far fewer cars next year than the president of auto
“The 2023 production plan approved by the Board of Directors of JSC AVTOVAZ amounts to 401,600 vehicles,” the Ministry of Industry and Trade said in a statement.
In addition, it was announced that the automaker Togliatti will produce 220,000 cars by the end of the year 2022. Now the company produces only three models in different trim levels – LADA Granta, LADA Niva Legend and LADA Niva Travel. Recall that previously the president and AVTOVAZ Maxim Sokolov and the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov have repeatedly stated that the domestic auto giant plans to produce about 500,000 cars by 2023. The production of 20% fewer cars than previously announced (just over 400,000 units) indirectly indicates that the company does not want to completely solve the problems with the supply of parts to its assembly lines in 2023.
It is known that next spring it is planned to restore the production of the LADA Vesta model, in “empty” configurations: with a weak 90 hp eight-valve “engine”, without multimedia systems and on steel rims. Such cars will roll off the assembly line, at least for the first time. Later, in the fall of 2023, the launch of LADA Largus is planned. At the moment nothing is known about the equipment and trim levels. Also under great demand are the prices of the future Vesta and Largus. It is possible that they are comparable to the cost of new foreign cars – classmates imported into Russia through the “gray” import schemes, which involve paying huge customs fees.
