December brought many weather surprises. Snowfall gave way to downpours, so hard snowdrifts formed on the yards, and under them – bare ice. Drivers who chose not to drive in such weather now want to free the “iron horses” from the snow captivity. But these attempts can lead to a serious loss of money. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells how not to condemn yourself to expensive repairs.

Parapets made of compressed snow, which appeared in the courtyards, as well as in street parking lots, are dangerous not only for “puzoterki”. Their drivers are just careful, because you can easily split the bumper or tear off the plastic “skirt”. Crossover owners are more careless – but in vain. For example, in such a prestigious SUV as the Nissan Murano, the exhaust system hangs too low. Pulling it out with the “meat” will not be difficult. And the weak point of the second generation Volkswagen Tiguan is the rear right plastic fuel line clamps. If they are damaged, the fuel will simply leak out and create a puddle under the car. Against this background, torn off heat shields and anthers are just trifles.

Leaving the snowdrift also does not bode well for the engine, since the driver is in a hurry and the engine does not have time to warm up. If there is ice under the wheels, the car is likely to slip. For the unit, this means high loads immediately after start-up. And if frost also hits at night, the situation becomes more complicated. Tears form in the steel ‘heart’, gradually condemning it to a major overhaul.

Let’s not forget that cast iron is used less and less in modern power plants, and a special silumin coating is applied to the cylinder walls. If it is covered with scratches, it can be very bad, because such a device is beyond repair.

The variator also does not tolerate winter very well, as it does not like long slips at first. And here it turns out the situation when slippage is inevitable, while the working fluid has not yet had time to warm up. The result is belt slippage and grinding of the pulleys. Over time, this will drive the transmission to an expensive repair. Therefore, even in the city, carry a good iron shovel and burlap with you, which you can put under the wheels in that case. And be sure to warm up the car. So it will be easier to leave and reduce the load on expensive nodes.
