Taxi drivers in Moscow love the New Year holidays: there are more than enough customers and most of them call taxis when they are tipsy. And that means – and in full readiness to pay as much money as you want, if only to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible and keep celebrating. This year, however, carriers may earn much less as Deptrans urged them to review their pricing policies during the holiday season.
For example, Deputy Mayor for Transport and Road Infrastructure Development, Maxim Liksutov, appealed to all operators and taxi companies in the capital with a request not to increase travel costs both on New Year’s Eve and on long weekends. True, the question of how this will be controlled and whether it will happen at all remains open. It is possible that the speech of the head of Deptrans is just an imitation of concern for citizens, but in reality everything remains the same. However, we will soon find out.
In general, of course, I would like the cumbersome practice of “flexible” billing of journeys, depending on the date, time and model of the device used to call the taxi, to remain in the outgoing year and our lives forever. It is indeed a problem that affects a large number of people. Take Moscow as an example: the capital’s carriers fulfill more than 1.6 million orders every day.
