The locomotive of the domestic auto industry seems to have decided to take a dip in the country’s auto market. In any case, the LADA brand has a lot of plans. However, at the beginning of 2023, the inhabitants of Togliatti also had successes. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out what the Volga Automobile Plant has achieved and what else will please the Russians.

After the departure of foreign shareholders, experts predicted the death of AVTOVAZ, but this did not happen. On the contrary. The Volga residents quickly recovered from the stranglehold of sanctions and managed to reach incredible heights, contrary to the predictions of skeptics and competitors, at the height of the protracted crisis.

NEW PARTNERSHIPS AND NO SHORTAGE

By the end of 2022, almost 190,000 cars had been sold by official LADA dealers, giving AVTOVAZ almost a third of the market. The number of showrooms has increased to 308 dealers and just under 18,000 cars have been exported. Do not go to a fortune teller – these numbers will only grow. Let’s thank new and future LADA partners from Russia and friendly countries, who completely eliminated the shortage of auto parts, including vital systems and electronics. By the way, AVTOVAZ has already managed to replace more than 200 sanctioned components, completely eliminating the stock of incomplete cars.

NEW SEDAN

In the spring, a serial reboot of the updated LADA Vesta will take place, production of which was transferred from Izhevsk to Tolyatti. Here, by the way, another B-class sedan is being prepared for assembly, but the details about it are still carefully hidden. In addition, closer to autumn, the LADA Largus will be put back on the conveyor belt for the next model year. It is striking that the car not only gets traditional combustion engines, but also a fully electric version of the E-Largus. AVTOVAZ is expected to produce at least 400,000 vehicles by the end of 2023. Among them will be completely new models, including crossovers, created in collaboration with Chinese partners.

NEW CROSSOVERS

Future models of the SUV segment will be registered on the former Nissan conveyor belt in St. Petersburg, which AVTOVAZ inherited after the Japanese brand left Russia. We are talking about new crossovers that play in the C and D segments, which can be marketed under a double name thanks to a collaboration with Asian companies. And at the main LADA plant in Togliatti, the production of a class B + crossover, made on a modified LADA Vesta architecture, is being prepared. In general, the premier of the original Russian brand is more than enough.

VICTORY OVER THE CRISIS

Despite the stagnation of the car market, the disasters in the country and the world, according to the results of 2022, Lada won the status of the best-selling brand in the Russian market. The palm was won by LADA Granta, which found nearly 100,000 new owners. The second place was shared by the SUVs Niva Legend and Travel with an indicator of 40,000 cars sold, and the flagship LADA Vesta, which was chosen by just under 30,000 buyers, closed the top three. It is gratifying that the inhabitants of Togliatti have not lost any of their export markets. Let’s say more: their number will only grow. The same cannot be said about the prices that AvtoVAZ does not raise, trying to please President Putin, who ordered to saturate the country with affordable and high-quality cars for the people.
