The Japanese Suzuki is developing a two-speed gearbox for electric vehicles in collaboration with the specialists at Inmotive. This is a lightweight and compact IngearTM transmission designed to increase the productivity of machines by extending their range by 15%.

According to Suzuki representatives, the electric car will have the ability to significantly increase range due to efficient torque transmission, as well as optimize the operation of the power unit in different operating conditions.

Incidentally, the collaboration of the Japanese brand with the Canadian company Inmotive is not the only collaboration of the brand. In the near future, Suzuki plans to collaborate with other companies “with unique technologies to accelerate the development of a new generation of electric vehicles.”

And recently, the Japanese started a project to send iSpace’s Hakuto-R lander to the moon, which successfully launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida. It seems that Elon Musk’s successes with his Tesla crew room followed Suzuki, who decided to join the private club of “star” car builders.
