Especially for the Celestial Empire, the Germans created a separate division of budget cars, which today consists of the Jetta VA3 sedan, irresistibly reminiscent of the Skoda Rapid, and two crossovers – VS5, a relative of the Czech Karoq, and VS with the same roots, but an elongated base. Cars are made in China on a joint conveyor with FAW and only for the local market. Or rather, it was until recently.
Russian dealer Avilon has already opened the acceptance of orders for VS5 and presumably the machines will soon arrive with us in commercial quantities. However, the AvtoVzglyad portal has already found a “living” car for sale – the Jetta VS5 crossover, which can be bought today at a price a million cheaper than a comparable Skoda Karoq! It’s in one of Major Auto’s showrooms and our correspondents were able to personally assess the Chinese VAG. Design, equipment, decoration – everything is with him. But something else is more important: the car comes with a manufacturer’s warranty of three years or 100,000 km!
Hold on, you might say, but after all, all manufacturers have refused to support Russian car owners in a unified system, “forgetting” their warranty obligations! First, not all. And secondly, as the dealer manager told us, the warranty for the Jetta will not be fulfilled by VW, but by the Chinese FAW. Checkmate?
The vast majority of global automakers have a joint venture with the Chinese – otherwise you won’t get into the local market. Now these factories under Chinese or newly formed “labels” will begin to produce “very similar” cars and deliver them to Russia without any restrictions. As we remember, China was not in favor of sanctions and only plans to monetize the situation. Do doors open?
