Today, in our market saturated with used cars, more and more cars are equipped with turbocharged engines with direct fuel injection. Such engines require the use of special oils, the characteristics of which have been studied by the AvtoVzglyad portal.

It is no secret that one of the characteristic negative aspects identified in gasoline direct injection engines is the premature ignition of the fuel mixture at low speeds. This effect, which leads in particular to the destruction of pistons (see photo below), was referred to as the Low Speed ​​​​Pre-Ignition (LSPI) phenomenon.

One of the reasons for its occurrence is the ingress of engine lubricant into the combustion chamber. The latter is usually just characteristic of used cars. They are usually distinguished by solid mileage and large clearances in the nodes of the cylinder-piston groups. And the greater the mileage, the greater the risk of premature ignition of the fuel mixture.

Technically, however, this problem has now been almost completely solved, including through the use of special oils. We are talking about special formulations of engine lubricants that combine a premium oil base with special components that act as antioxidant additives.

For example, it was found that calcium compounds contribute to the onset of the LSPI effect. To eliminate this, the lubricants used for direct fuel injection turbocharged engines have reduced the content of calcium components. And supplements containing magnesium impurities are now used instead. Magnesium-based additives can provide a number of engine benefits, such as less wear, better performance and better fuel economy.

Magnesium is an important component of motor oil today, because it helps reduce friction between parts, among other things. This reduces engine wear and can significantly extend the life of the unit. In addition, magnesium helps improve performance by providing better lubrication between parts. Finally, magnesium-based additives help improve fuel economy through better combustion of the gasoline mixture in the engine cylinders.

Important points regarding the solution of the LSPI problem are currently reflected in a number of international “oil” standards, such as API SP, ILSAC GF6A and ILSAC GF-6B. Their requirements have been developed, among other things, to maintain the good economy of direct injection engines, as well as their ability to prevent wear. Therefore, the correct selection of oil is important when operating such engines.

As one of the possible options for using such motor oil, you can think of the original product from the Green Oil+ series with a 5W-40 specification, developed by Bizol specialists. This oil was created for engines, taking into account their work in difficult conditions, including driving in city traffic.

To do this, the unique W-guard technology is implemented in the oil formulation, which improves lubricating properties under different operating modes of the power unit. This made it possible to increase the strength of the lubricating film to reliably protect engine parts from excessive wear caused by frequent stops.

By the way, the oil of the Green Oil + 5W-40 series can also be successfully used in cars whose engines operate in Start-Stop mode. Consider that such power units are much more likely than conventional car engines to start and shut down, and therefore undergo much higher loads. Thus, this lubricant can significantly reduce engine wear when working in start-stop mode.
