People’s deputies decided to amend the law “On highways and road operations in the Russian Federation”. The author of the amendments made is Evgeny Moskvichev, head of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Infrastructure Development. He proposed to supplement the existing standards with the following wording: “The passage of vehicles … on sections of highways to cross the state border of the Russian Federation is carried out on a reserved date and time in accordance with the established procedure by the Government of the Russian Federation.”

The novel applies to absolutely everyone: both foreigners and Russians, both car tourists and truck drivers. It has a so-called reference character. That is, he gives the government the arrangement of the same border “sections of highways”, the definition of the procedure for “recording for travel”, the creation of suitable infrastructure and other things.

Apparently, the appearance of such changes is not directly related to the current political and economic situation in Russia and abroad. Since the bill assumes that the government will not make preparations for the introduction of cross-border travel “by appointment” until the end of this year. And the mechanism itself is planned to come into force only in a year – before March 1, 2024.
