In Russia again brought the illiquid crossover Opel Crossland

New Opel Crossland SUVs assembled in Germany have appeared in the showrooms. Before the crisis, they were not in demand by the Russians. And now in sales in general there may be a failure. However, entrepreneurs are full of optimism. How justified it is, the AvtoVzglyad portal found out.

The Russian representative office of Opel announced the acceptance of orders for this model already in 2021. But our people have never tasted the novelty. Now – the second attempt, which was made by dealers. Apparently hoping for the label “made in Germany”. But what’s in the German car?

Four years ago, Crossland became the first Opel to be founded on the platform of the French concern PSA (now part of the Stellantis group). Technically, it is strongly united with the Citroën C3 Aircross, and under the hood is a 1.2-liter engine with 110 hp combined with an “automatic”. Such units have never been successful with us. As for the drivetrain, it is exclusively front.

The options list includes a lane-control system, parking sensors, a rear-view camera, cruise control and a small set of electronic driver assistance systems. Among the potential competitors of the model, we highlight such a bestseller as the Hyundai Creta. We will also add Suzuki Vitara to the list and a very rare Peugeot 2008 in our latitudes.

According to the Autonews publication, the base price for the new product starts at 2,770,000 rubles. For that money it is better to take the same “Cretu” or “Vitara”. Or even pay attention to the BYD Qin Plus hybrid Chinese sedan with meager fuel consumption. It’s bigger and cheaper.
