While some brands are trembling with the appearance of new players on the market, AvtoVAZ sees only positives in the fierce competition for the buyer. How the Volga residents interact with Chinese brands operating in Russia, and whether they feel threatened by the freshly baked Moskvich, the AvtoVzglyad portal found out.

When asked if AVTOVAZ is considering the model of the revived Russian brand Moskvich, made according to the patterns of the Chinese JAC, its competitor, Vice President for Sales and Marketing of AVTOVAZ JSC Dmitry Kostromin answered unequivocally: “no”.

True, in this case we are talking about the Moskvich 3 car, which plays in segment B and costs even less than 2,000,000 rubles. After the product line is replenished with models of the C and D segments, competition with LADA will be inevitable, given AVTOVAZ’s plans to produce cars of these classes at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg.

“We look at what mistakes competitors make in order to avoid them ourselves. However, we are not afraid of rivals – on the contrary: it stimulates. There are competitors and there always will be,” added Dmitry Kostromin.

As for the brands from the PRC that have become more active in Russia, the top manager expected to note the “Chinese troika” among them, which, however, plays in a higher price range.

“Geely is steadily increasing production in Belarus and Haval in the Tula region. If we talk about the share of the Chinese in the Russian market, we consider our competitor as the Chery brand, which is developing several segments at once, including niche and even luxury segments,” Vice President of Sales and Marketing of JSC AVTOVAZ told AvtoVzglyad in an interview with the AvtoVzglyad portal Dmitry Kostromin.
