As children, most of us had toys. And together with them, we not only plunged into our own amazing worlds, but also actively communicated with such friends, endowing them with unique character traits and the ability to conduct a dialogue. But as we grow up, we continue to interact with inanimate objects. Our toys just get bigger and more expensive, and toy cars become real cars.

Why do we, as adults, go from kid conversations with cools and soldiers to conversations with machines? Maybe because it’s still a toy for us. Only more expensive and much more complex. Or is the phenomenon of communication with inanimate objects due to the fact that the car has a large number of features that allow us to bring it to life on a subconscious level? After all, as we approach the car, we can’t get rid of the feeling that we see her expression “face”.

The brain helps us do this by subconsciously identifying the headlights as eyes. And after that, the psyche diligently forms in our mind the general expression of the face of a mechanical monster, completing the nose, mouth and other details inherent in a living organism. In addition, some machines seem aggressive and evil to us, while others are nice or even stupid. But these are only obvious properties of a living being with intelligence. So even without being in the car, we are ready to recognize it as alive.

When we are behind the wheel and there is no one else in the cabin except us, the “iron horse” takes on even more signs of a living being. After all, he knows how to move in space. And this is hardly available for inanimate objects. Although there is wind, water and fire. They are also inanimate, but they have mobility. And in ancient beliefs and legends are always alive. However, modern people, for all their isolation from nature, are ready to perceive them as animated creatures. But back to the car.

While driving (especially when we have problems), we seriously start going to the car with a request to be patient and not break down now, go to the gas station, although the tank is almost empty, or not get stuck to sit in a deep puddle. And oddly enough, sometimes it helps. And the cases are completely mystical. The author of this material once collapsed the cardan cross bearings in an all-wheel drive car. After that, as a rule, it falls on the road, and the car is completely immobilized. But at my request not to do this, the “swallow” drove 700 km and broke down right after I parked near the house.

In addition, modern vehicles with advanced infotainment systems know how to communicate with the driver, creating the illusion of meaningful dialogue. Once in the cabin of such a car, I had a rather tense conversation. And suddenly, at some point, in response to another comment, a car entered into a dialogue, asking the interlocutor what exactly he had in mind. And this put him in a dead end for a long time.

We managed to figure it out with the animation of the car. Now the question arises, is it normal to talk to him and are there people who don’t? The answer was given a long time ago by psychologists, who, according to the results of studies, came to the conclusion that 100% of drivers somehow communicate with their car, especially when they are in stressful situations. And this is completely normal and does not indicate problems with the head. So you can communicate with your machine without hesitation. Indeed, in general, she really has all the signs of a living being, which means that she can at least be a grateful listener.
