In January of this year, Russians bought 45,200 new cars, which is 47% less than in the first month of 2022. In addition, 80% of all cars sold were domestic and Chinese brands: 18,400 and 17,200 people chose them.

Interestingly, the volume of the market for “our brands” grew 5% in January, while the segment for “Chinese” grew a whopping 2.1 times. At the same time, all other brands – European, American, Japanese and Korean – are still in the red. They have a drop of more than 70%. Which, however, is not surprising. After all, new cars are not delivered to dealers: retailers work with what is still in stock.

If you look at the brand rating, there are no changes here: LADA is on the first line, Chery is on the second, Haval is on the third, Geely is on the fourth, Kia is on the fifth. The only thing worth paying special attention to is Omoda (another Chery sub-brand), which managed to break into the TOP-10 and settle in eighth place. And this despite the fact that Omoda still only has one car in its lineup – the C5 crossover.

Among the most popular models, the domestic LADA Granta is still in the lead – cars of this family have been sold with a circulation of almost 12,000 units. Next come the SUVs LADA Niva Travel and LADA Niva Legend, as well as the crossovers Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, Geely Coolray and Haval Jolion, according to the results of a study by Passport Industrial Consulting.
