Modern cars are equipped with different types of engines and a specific lubricant specification is drawn up for each of them. Among them today there is also low-ash motor oil, which is necessary for many foreign cars operating on Russian roads. The AvtoVzglyad portal examined the characteristics of this product.

Without going into too much of a technical jungle, we note that low-ash engine oil is designed to reduce the amount of ash that accumulates in the combustion chamber. Remember, it is formed in small amounts during the combustion of any fuel under the influence of high temperatures, which can eventually lead to the formation of deposits on the walls of pistons, valves and other engine parts.

The gradual buildup of such deposits over time can lead to a decrease in unit power and an increase in exhaust toxicity. So low ash oils help to reduce these deposits thanks to higher detergency properties, helping to maintain normal engine parameters and gas after-treatment systems.

By the way, diesel engines are particularly sensitive to the formation of ash deposits due to higher operating temperatures, so low-ash oils are especially important for some types of high-tech diesel engines. Gasoline powertrains also benefit from low-ash engine lubricants, as they help reduce harmful emissions while improving engine performance, including fuel economy.

Since even used foreign cars are now mostly equipped with turbocharged diesel and gasoline engines, the use of low-ash oils (denoted by the phrase Low SAPS) is also becoming increasingly important for many of them.

As a rule, this category of lubricants is produced on a synthetic basis, supplemented with a package of special additives. And since the latter are produced exclusively abroad, for cars currently operating in our country, the right choice of engine oil is extremely important, especially in terms of using the specifications recommended by the car manufacturer.

This can be seen in particular with the example of the well-known Turkish brand Lubex. Today, under this trademark, a wide variety of automotive lubricants are produced, some of which are already represented in our country.

For example, in the range of Lubex products supplied to our market, there is a low-ash synthetic motor oil of the MB-LA 5W−40 series. It is distinguished by high protective properties that protect engine parts from the formation of harmful ash deposits and soot.

Another important distinguishing feature of this product is its versatility. MB-LA 5W-40 oil is suitable for both petrol and diesel engines (including those equipped with modern filtration systems such as DPF, GPF or TWC) and for engines that run on gas.

One of the other advantages of this lubricant is its high fluidity, which ensures that the oil film is firmly held on the drive unit components at any temperature, minimizing wear during cold starts in the cold.
