Insurance companies not only regularly publish their ratings of models based on the degree of theft, but also regularly cry about the increase in losses due to the activities of criminals. And lately, car owners have been so terrified of the wild growth of car thefts.
Such materials for the media usually amount to stories about the growth of this type of criminal expression in the statistics of a single company. Surprisingly, at the same time, the Ministry of the Interior reports a decrease in car thefts in the country by tens of percent per year.
In particular, the police claim that last year the number of robberies and car thefts in Russia decreased! In total – more than 13% compared to 2021. Law enforcement officials have calculated that in 2022, some 22,000 cars were stolen from car owners. That is, we have reached a record number of stolen vehicles in the last 20 years!
Remember, the saddest year in that sense was 2004, when car thieves “ruined” as many as 125,000 cars. So who to trust: insurers or law enforcement?
