Punkt E in particular has had quite a bit of success in this as it became a leader in the development of charging stations for electric cars last year. She brought their numbers to 165 units while expanding the geographic presence of her EAS. Now there are electric stations of the company in 14 largest regions of the country.
But Punkt E considers the construction of fast chargers on the Moscow-Kazan route (M7 Volga highway) as the main victory of last year. And in 2023, according to the general director of the company Konstantin Alyabyev, it will begin to actively develop in new regions. Moreover, both through the construction of its own stations and with the aid of the franchise mechanism.
However, despite such a rapid development of electric car infrastructure, there is one “but” that casts doubt on the prospects for their existence in Russia. Our climatic conditions are such that winter lasts nine months in a significant part of the country. And in the cold, any “electric train”, even the most advanced with a battery heating function, turns into a helpless piece of iron within a few kilometers, because the battery capacity in the cold drops exponentially.
In other words, the probability of being eaten by wolves on a highway in the forests of, for example, the Tambov region, where you will not find an ordinary gas station, is greater than the roof for the owner of a newfangled car. And if an ordinary car can be saved with the help of a can of gasoline, then nothing will help the “greens” in this situation.
