The traffic police reported on the work done for 2022. The agency again reported on the steady growth of the army of fined motorists. Portal “AutoVzglyad” got acquainted with the sad statistics.

In 2022, traffic police inspectors issued 201 million warrants to Russians for traffic violations. This is 12% more than in 2021. The total amount of fines amounted to 136.8 billion rubles, which is 6.7% more than last year. And this approximately corresponds to the size of the annual budget of the Arkhangelsk or Saratov regions. Statistics claim that more than 90% of all decisions were made on the basis of material obtained using automatic fixation cameras – 183.5 million, which is 14% more than in 2021 (112.8 billion rubles, an increase of 8%).

Apparently, the increase in the number of fines is associated with an increase in the number of traffic police cameras on the country’s roads. By the end of 2022, their “park” size has exceeded 25,000 units. Despite the fact that representatives of the traffic police reported about 23,000 units a year earlier. The increase was 8%. As you can see, there is a direct relationship between this indicator and the growth of monetary fines for traffic violations: there were more complexes for the year by 8%, and the number of fines for the same period increased by the same 8%.

From the point of view of filling regional budgets, where money comes from fines for traffic violations, this circumstance is the best motivation to further expand the network of cameras. And to disguise this method of replenishing financial balances, officials routinely use road safety reasoning.
