If KamAZ sold 36,900 vehicles in 2021, sales in the crisis year 2022, when Russian manufacturers faced serious “sanctions” problems, even managed to increase sales to 43,400 units. And the inhabitants of Chelny do not plan to slow down – on the contrary: in 2023 they will roll out several new products and modernize conveyors to increase production.
So, according to Sergey Kogogin, general manager of KamAZ, for 2023 the automaker planned to expand the model range within the K5 family, which was recently rebooted on a “sanction-resistant component basis”. In addition, the inhabitants of Chelny will continue cooperation with partners “in the development of gas engine technology.” And this will certainly bring, if not new models, then new modifications.
Of the other new products that should go on sale in 2023 – “Compass 5”. Recall that the Compass line, launched in February last year, today includes the Compass 9 and Compass 12 models – slightly twisted Chinese JAC trucks.
Mr. Kogogin also mentioned the Atom electric car: according to him, the “battery” car prototype will be made in May. Electric trains are scheduled to enter service in 2024. And by 2030, light vehicles should bring KamAZ 350 billion rubles in additional revenue.
Another important task of the inhabitants of Chelny is the modernization of the conveyor belt, where the cabins of the K5 family are assembled. Since this line is the “key point of brand growth”, the capabilities need to be increased. But here, alas, no details yet.
