In Russia they want to confiscate cars from the population for the needs of the army

If in Ukraine local authorities regularly confiscate cars and trucks from the natives for the needs of the armed forces, then in Russia they only think about it. In recent years, however, such measures have been increasingly discussed. With details – the portal “AvtoVzglyad”.

Late last year, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin proposed seizing vehicles of citizens who had fled abroad away from mobilization. According to him, abandoned cars can provide unbearable help to the families of Russian military personnel. It is true, fortunately or unfortunately, that this initiative has not been taken to its logical conclusion.

Meanwhile, local authorities in neighboring Latvia officially allowed car owners to be taken away from car owners to be handed over to “Ukraine in need of help”. Granted, we are talking about offenders who allowed themselves to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The corresponding amendments have already received the support of the local Ministry of Finance, as the Chairman of the Committee on Defense, Home Affairs and Corruption Prevention, Raimonds Bergmanis, has publicly stated. What, you ask, are we worse?

So representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party once again took the initiative to seize cars from malicious traffic rule violators. Recall that a few years ago Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed to seize cars from motorists that pose a danger to other road users on the roadway, and to send the reckless drivers themselves into exile for up to five years. But the initiative of the most “living” politicians, and the now deceased “father” of the Liberal Democrats, remained only in memory, like himself.

However, the current proposal of State Duma deputy Vasily Vlasov of the Liberal Democratic Party has so far received approval, but quite noticeable “restyling”. So, according to the people’s deputy, it is necessary to work out a mechanism for confiscating cars from car owners who ignore the safety rules on the road in order to hand them over to the needs of the Russian army. The parliamentarian considers it necessary “to assess the feasibility of confiscating cars belonging to persons who systematically violate traffic rules, with the aim of unilateral transfer to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation without compensation payments”. Well, strict but fair! It is curious whether the “fruits of creativity” of the deputy will reach the real consideration?

Be that as it may, the Ministry of Defense itself does not yet know an answer to the question of whether there is a need for personal transport of civilians for deployment in the NMD. Although a few years ago they were “drowned” for the introduction of a system of military registration of cars from the population in order to drive them in the event of a “special legal regime”.

We have not declared martial law in the country, which means that car owners do not have to worry about being left without a car. On the other hand, the transport may begin to retreat even without mobilization. It will not be difficult for the authorities to take such measures. As they say, there would be a desire. But even if this happens, legal entities will be the first to lose their vehicles. Unless, of course, citizens who regularly violate traffic rules and at the same time drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs are optionally added to this list.
