Renault, which until recently had strong and long-standing ties with Russia, acquired a huge and already prepared site for the production of cars in the Mother See – the plant in Moskvich. They began to produce Symbol first, after Logan, then Fluence, Duster and many other models, including the recently fashionable Arkana.

But in February 2022, the “tomatoes” withered and the friendship officially came to an end. Of course, in the near future we will not find out the real Russian-French similarities, but the shops of the Moskvich factory were occupied by the one who occupied them. Resurrected from non-existence “Moskvich”.

But during the heyday of the Russian market, in order to resist the Korean expansion, the French rented a separate room here for their Atelier Renault division, which “designed” the new cars. The brand introduced a special program for its fans, where it was possible to purchase individual items as well as complete combo packs to personalize the cars.

Surely everyone remembers the two-tone Kaptur with rims in different colors and much more. The program started in October 2016 and has been quite popular. After the exodus of the brand from Russia, the correspondents of the AvtoVzglyad portal managed to visit the workshops of Atelier Renault and see with their own eyes the places of former French glory on the territory of the Moscow technopolis.

Today, when our former partners did not need this property and it is still too early for Moskvich to think about personalizing its products, the property ended up with a completely different tenant. From now on, the production of cells for electric vehicle batteries will be located here. The Renera company, a subsidiary of the state-owned Rosatom, is building a new enterprise. So far there are only plans and papers, and most of the workshop is taken up by the elevators left over from Renault. But already this year they promise to show not only a construction site, but also a finished production.
