Cool novelties from AVTOVAZ, failed projects from KamAZ and a wild price increase for used cars: results of the week

The news agenda is not encouraging: used cars are getting more expensive, foreign companies are leaving Russia, car manufacturers’ attention is shifting to useless electric cars. Although something good is still happening: AVTOVAZ, for example, is working with might and main on the next LADA Granta, and parallel imports are “bringing” us more and more interesting new products. And more about the main automotive events of the outgoing week – in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

But let’s start with perhaps the most unpleasant: used cars continue to rise in price. Analysts have calculated that in the first two months of the new year, used cars have increased in price by almost 7% – the average cost of a used car is 800,000 rubles. The “Koreans” added more prominently than others in the price lists. And in addition to Hyundai and Kia, internet users in 2023 are actively interested in used Toyota, Volkswagen and LADA.

Speaking of LADA. Togliatti residents are working on the next Granta: this week, photos of the body of the novelty and sketches of the dashboard appeared on the Internet. The images confirm that the changes to the exterior and interior of the model will be really serious. By the way, the new “Grant” has already been presented to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov. But it won’t go on sale until next year.

It seems that Kama, the manufacturer of the Russian Atom electric car, has also made some progress. So, recently it became known that the company plans to release not one, but two different models of “trains”. Both have even come up with names: Duo and Family. As for the timing of the premiere, the next concept of the “green” car will be released this spring, the so-called functional prototype – in July-September, and sales will begin no earlier than 2025.

Do you not trust domestic manufacturers? What about a car that arrived in Russia under the parallel import scheme? This week we received a few more interesting new products, including the Volkswagen Taigo and Geely Okavango crossovers, as well as the luxurious Hongqi H9+ limousine. And you don’t have to be afraid of SBKTS reviews. Of course, there is a chance to encounter such a nuisance, but the devil is not as terrible as it is painted.

You don’t have to worry about the permanent departure from our country of Continental and Michelin. Yes, yes, both the Germans and the French are now selling their Russian factories. Neither the details of the agreements nor the timing of closing transactions are yet known, but in both cases the case is nearing completion.

And what is nearing completion, it seems, is the era of internal combustion engines. At least that is the conclusion one can draw from the list of finalists for the World Car of the Year competition. The BMW X1 / iX1, Kia Niro and Hyundai Ioniq 6 will compete for the title of the best model in the world – all connected in one way or another with the “green” traction. lived!
