How to legally improve the headlights and not damage the car

First of all, you should not put Chinese xenon in any of our brands, because you risk losing your “rights”. In this case, any traffic cop will accuse you of violating Art. 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Violations. For example, the type of lighting equipment does not match the design of the vehicle.

You also do not have to replace ordinary lamps with more powerful ones. Let’s say 80 watts. Indeed, the light will brighten, but the reflectors will burst from the increased temperature in the headlight, and the “visor” itself may melt. Polishing the outside of the light device doesn’t always help either. Glass after the procedure often becomes dull, and plastic can be covered with even more scratches.

One of the easiest ways to solve the problem is to install E1 bulbs (they are distinguished by the marking in a circle). Products give the most favorable spectrum for the human eye – 5200 Kelvin. The light from consumables is white, very close to daylight: this best illuminates the road. Some manufacturers try to achieve a similar effect with a special composition of the gas in the flask. Do not pay attention to such offers. They are noticeably more expensive and less efficient.

Another way is to carry out legal tuning, that is, to install LED lenses in the assembly. But before you buy, it’s important to look at the labeling. The product shall meet the requirements of UN/ECE Regulation 112-01, Section 6.2.4 “Measuring the illuminance of the dipped beam of a headlamp”.

A certificate from a photometric laboratory accredited by Rosstandart must also be enclosed. Only then is the change allowed. Note that the lenses install quite quickly, as the seats are adapted to standard mounts.

And in some models everything is solved even easier. For example, pre-styling Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio were often scolded for bad light. The reason is that in every Korean headlight there is a special cap that covers the bulb. This small element helps reduce flare. After the spare part is removed, the machines literally “see the light”. At the same time, any technical inspection of cars passes without any problems.
