The Government of the Russian Federation approved the idea of extending the validity of part of the driver’s licenses by a third: documents expiring between January 1, 2022

The Government of the Russian Federation approved the idea of extending the validity of part of the driver’s licenses by a third: documents expiring between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023 can be exchanged not now, but after 3 years. However, as the AvtoVzglyad portal found out, not all motorists will be exempted.

The representative of the Main Directorate of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation recalled that there are several conditions under which Russian drivers must change their expired driver’s license to a new one.

So it is necessary to go for a new plastic card if the driver’s data has changed – for example, the last name after marriage. In addition, medical restrictions on transport management are also a reason to visit the REO or the MFC.

And of course “rights” should not be allowed to expire or be damaged if a citizen plans to drive a car abroad – in other countries the police know nothing about domestic “renewals”.
