Tesla beats forecasts and records record car sales profit

Mainly through the sale of cars. Tesla recorded record profits and remained the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles on the planet. With 310 thousand sales in the first quarter Elon musk earned a net revenue of US$18.75 billion (about R$88.50 billion) between January and March.

Tesla Model 3 was the top selling car in Europe at the end of 2021 and the brand is likely to grow even more by the end of 2022 as mass production goes into production Model Y, one of his most famous machines. Along with the financial result, Tesla shares also jumped on the Nasdaq, the American stock exchange.

In the first quarter of this year, 310,000 vehicles were delivered, with the Model 3 and Model Y leading the way in sales, 95% of those total when added together. The increase in the company’s revenue was not only due to sales, but also due to deliveries.

Despite record gross profits, Tesla’s wind power performance was disappointing, with solar installations down almost 50% to 48 MW. 846 MWh of lithium-ion battery energy storage systems were deployed, up 90% from last year.

However, this did not stop the quarterly fall.

Automotive revenue expected to rise with new plant

At an event marking the opening of the Tesla plant in Texas in early April, Musk confirmed his intention to build Model Y vehicles at the new center. It is one of the automaker’s best-known vehicles with the highest sales potential, an all-electric vehicle that can carry up to seven passengers and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds.

Continuation after commercial

With mass production, which should be about 500,000 units per year, and with an eye on market competition, prices may come down. Currently, selling prices start at $53,940 for the Long Range model and $58,940 for the high-spec model. In direct translation into real, this would give something between 251 and 275 thousand. Despite this, official import prices in Brazil range from 600,000 to 640,000.
