The authorities are not going to abolish the Platon system and the transport tax

0

More than 70% of all goods in Russia are transported by road freight. At the same time, many experts believe that it is today’s carriers that are least protected against all the disasters of recent years. Although the industry is one of the most affected. And market players need real state support. But, as Sergei Mironov, head of the Just Russia – For Truth faction, told the AvtoVzglyad portal, progress in this area has been minimal so far.

– First of all, the government of the Russian Federation should understand the importance of this type of transport, Sergei Mironov noted. – Despite our fundamental disagreement with the Platon system, it persists and rates are rising. As before, there are no steps to abolish the transport tax, although the government once promised to do so. Many levies on freight carriers are introduced under the pretext that heavy trucks cause damage to the roads. But we still have the relevant department, not the Ministry of Roads, but the Ministry of Transport, and the approach to the industry should be different …

However, carriers are somehow adapting to the new reality. For example, according to the agency “Avtostat”, the demand for new trucks has increased slightly. In February 2023, 8625 new trucks were sold in Russia, which is 3% more than in the same month last year. On the other hand, the implementation of light commercial transport continues to fall catastrophically. In the same month of February 2023, consumers bought only 5,107 new light commercial vehicles, which is 48.2% less than in the same month of 2022.
