5 popular cars whose wiring quickly rots

“Caries” of wiring in cars of different classes, when an electrician begins to “get weird”, is quite common. Both premium “Germans” and cheap “Chinese” suffer from it. Moreover, it is sometimes difficult to determine the malfunction. About the “iron horses” that need more attention in this sense, the portal “AvtoVzglyad” says.

Let’s start with the BMW 5 and 6 series, which were even subject to the official recall. Owners of cars purchased between June 2003 and August 2010 were invited to the service. The fact is that from the impact of road reagents, the threaded connection of the positive wire of the battery quickly rusts. As a result, the electrician fails. So much so that sometimes even the engine cannot be started. And the wiring can melt, which is full of fire.

The “Chinese” also provide surprises. Especially the ones that came on the market five to ten years ago. For example, the crossover Lifan X60 rots like a tin, and cars with a “living” body can no longer be found. However, metal can be patched up. Searching for electrical faults is much more difficult. And this “Asian” has them. For example, wires suffer a lot from moisture that has accumulated for years under the floor covering. If you do not see the problem in time, you can get a short circuit. And it’s not far from the fire.

There are shortcomings in “our brands”. For example, until 2012, UAZ Patriot off-road vehicles left the assembly line with Slovenian relay and fuse mounting blocks. These units have a non-separable design, i.e. they cannot be repaired. But moisture often seeps into them, which leads to the melting of wires and the destruction of electrical contacts.

Foreign “frames” are also not without sin. Take the third-generation Nissan Pathfinder, for example. Thick cable harnesses run along this frame. It is clear that all the dirt and moisture will fly on it during operation. This causes not only the frame to rot, but also the harness. So the closure of this model is common. At the same time, finding a “hole” is sometimes very difficult, because the service prefers to immediately replace the spare part, which is expensive.

And the Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup, built on the basis of the Nissan NP300 Navara, has electrical wiring close to the wheel arches. If there is no protection, the sewage from under the wheels quickly does their dirty work. Optics may fail or “malfunctions” may occur when starting the engine.
