Why the driver is obliged to look under the door handles of his car in the spring
In the spring you see people looking under the door handles of cars in parking garages. And these are not scammers, but car owners who “inspect” these places in their cars. And what they are looking for there, the AvtoVzglyad portal says.

It’s no secret that a car’s paintwork is exposed to strong environmental influences. This is especially true for used cars. Over the years, various defects, chips and scratches appear on the body. In addition, if some are highly visible, others are quite difficult to detect.

One of the problem areas on the bodywork is the door handles, as these areas are constantly sandblasted. And in winter they are also richly moistened with road reagents. In addition, the plastic handle is often screwed onto the door without sealant, and over time, the plastic will rub the paint down to the metal. Then the reagent does its job, causing corrosion on the metal. We will not talk about simple chips: this is very common.

The author of these lines once looked under the handles of several cars in his yard. They all had scratches, sand and chips. Generally there is a problem and it needs to be solved because body repair is now expensive.

In fact, there are many options for stopping corrosion. Someone puts seals under door handles of other models. Seals from the Chevrolet Cruse or Astra J, for example, are suitable for the Opel Astra H. Other motorists stick an anti-gravel film in these places, or limit themselves to removing rust and painting the peeled or scuffed spot locally.

It also happens that rust spots develop under the door handles. This is a signal that corrosion is already underway and needs to be removed urgently. Otherwise, you will end up getting through holes near the handles over time. The infusion itself can be removed with a cloth dipped in solvent. And then remove the handle anyway and remove the main corrosion, process the mounting bolts, which can also be rusty.
