In Togliatti they started assembling an experimental batch of Vesta NG with automatic transmission. It’s about CVT. Insiders suggest that after several cars are ready, they will be sent for trials and life tests.

The appearance of the two-pedal version is reported by the popular public Avtograd News on the VKontakte social network. However, there is no record of which company has agreed to supply transmissions. They do not mention the timing of the appearance of company cars. There is only preliminary information that Vesta with CVT will appear in 2024. Earlier, however, the manufacturer itself announced that the “automatic” LADA Vesta would be on display as early as 2023.

As for the “varik”, then most likely it will be Chinese. We are not talking about our own development, that would require huge investments and time. The head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, previously estimated the potential investment in the project at 30 billion rubles. Therefore, it is cheaper and faster to buy what is already there, and then “make friends” with the Asian “box” of the Russian engine. Apparently this is now done in Togliatti.
