Onboard indicators in cars are designed to help drivers, but only theoretically. In any case, the parameters of a number of controls not only distort the real characteristics, but often openly deceive car owners. With details – the portal “AvtoVzglyad”.

The most common scam for motorists is misreporting fuel mileage. At the moment, there are practically no cars in the world that consume “fuel” according to the declared passport characteristics. The difference sometimes amounts to a few liters per 100 kilometers.

It is true that in their defense, many automakers blame the drivers themselves for the excessive appetite of vehicles. The latter are said to adhere to an aggressive driving style, erratic shifting and frequent throttle changes. And yet, according to them, the increased consumption is due to the use of low-quality gasoline, permanent traffic jams and sudden temperature changes.

Of course, all these factors affect the level of fuel consumption, but they still cannot differ much from the declared indicators. Because of what happened a few years ago, in particular, several major scandals, into which a whole scattering of the world’s leading automakers fell.

You should not count on the veracity of the speedometer indicators, which constantly “lie”. Let’s say more: the faster you move, the more the speedometer “fools”. For example, when driving below 100 km / h, the speedometer overestimates the parameters by about 5%, and at speeds above 130 km / h – by 7-8%.

The fact remains: the measurement error of the device is too high. Of course, it shows data without focusing on tire size, road conditions, wind and other external factors that affect a car’s speed. That’s why discrepancies in data often turn into infamous “letters of happiness” for drivers.

The famous Start-Stop system is also not without sin. Not only does it annoy the nervous work cycle and sometimes not allow you to take off abruptly, it also does not save fuel. But automakers “rub” us that the smart feature is designed to reduce “fuel” consumption. In fact, it is only possible to really save hard-earned pennies with a regularly serviced interval after stopping the engine for at least 10 seconds. And in the same traffic jams, the system turns on and off almost every second, proving its uselessness.

In addition: “Start-Stop” harms the health of the driver and passengers! When the engine is running, there are certain risks of getting carbon monoxide poisoning, which saturates the exhaust gases. Not for nothing, some time ago the world’s car giants got hats en masse after numerous consumer lawsuits.
