The Russian car market is taking on a new shape: the premium segment will completely be subject to parallel imports, the middle class and business fleets will switch to Chinese cars, but the budget segment will, it seems, be represented exclusively by the domestic and – attention – Iranian car industry. At the same time, the Persians are the only ones who can compete with “our brands” in terms of price. The AvtoVzglyad portal has already written about the visit of the Iranian delegation to Togliatti, and now there is news about the possible start of production of Saipa models in St. Petersburg.
It is curious that the little-known company Best Motors becomes the official distributor of the Iranian brand in Russia. But be that as it may, it is she who is ready not only to trade in “Persians”, but also considers the possibility of assembling cars with us.
And, frankly, hope for the Iranians is not an empty slogan. The domestic automotive firmament urgently needs to saturate the budget segment of cars, in which LADA dealers still reign and get brutal. And only real competition can change the depressing situation with monstrously high prices for new cars, both domestic and “foreign” production. Until the market is saturated or there is a variation in the price range of up to two million rubles, we get the same Vesta for 2.5 million “wooden”, which motivates the offer due to the lack of an alternative.
By the way, the first blow to the greed of car dealers has already been dealt – the Chinese have launched the Kaiyi conveyor in Kaliningrad, so the sedan cheaper than the “magic kopeck piece” has already appeared on sale. However, this is clearly not enough: manufacturers from the Celestial Empire are in no hurry to saturate Russia with cheap cars – they are interested in a more expensive and profitable segment.
And here comes the hour of the Iranians: Persian “passenger cars” can occupy a niche “up to 2,000,000 rubles” and offer the domestic buyer a simple and reliable new car at an acceptable – creepy, of course, but today it is – price. If everything goes according to the established strategy, then of course the adjustment will happen and car prices will slowly but surely creep down. But not before the Persians locate the Saipa models in Russia.
