Why will many engines soon have hidden overheating?

The “frying” of the engine promises the car owner a lot of trouble. After all, this is one of the most serious problems that can occur. In addition, destructive processes very often begin in such a way that it is extremely difficult to determine them at an early stage. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells where to expect a dirty trick that can ruin.

To begin with, we recall that with a strong heating of the working fluids of a modern power unit, not only the block head “leads”, but also the cylinder block itself. After all, now they are made of “soft” aluminum alloys. There are microcracks, therefore it is easier to send all this for scrap than to repair.

Most drivers believe that the temperature of the lubricant is the same as the temperature of the antifreeze, and these indicators do not change during operation. In addition, on most cars, it is the coolant heating indicator that is displayed on the dashboard. But the unit also cools down due to lubrication, while the sensors responsible for such a process have long since been included in the design in many cars.

Recall that the normal working range of the coolant is 80-110 degrees. If the radiators are not clogged with dirt and the fluid is fresh, then the system will function normally and the signal light on the “cleaned up” will not light up.

Oil behaves differently. It initially carries increased loads. If the owner filled in, which is cheaper, or made a mistake with the tolerances when replacing (usually no one looks at designations like ACEA A3 / B4), then the surprises begin. By the way, both are relevant now, because many manufacturers of lubricants have left Russia. And our people usually buy a brand and ignore the specs on the bus.

It turns out a situation when, at high speed or on a serpentine, the lubricant begins to act to the limit and gradually sinter. At 130 degrees, additives are produced and the “slurry” itself slowly thickens. The heat dissipation properties are also reduced. This can lead to clogging of oil scraper rings and local overheating in the cylinder-piston group. Of course, the engine does not stall immediately. But the destructive process continues, and the driver will not suspect anything. He has done a full MOT, all fresh consumables.

One day, the so-called thermal shock can also occur, when after a long drive the steering immediately drowns out the steel “heart”. In this case, the circulation of liquids stops, and the red-hot parts begin to “share” heat with less heated parts. This leads to warping of the block head and the subsequent appearance of grooves in the cylinders.

What to do if the oil suddenly boils? Stop, but do not turn off the machine. Let it idle for a few minutes. The fat will cool. After that, you can carefully continue along the path, but only to the service. They need to replace the consumables and find out the reasons. This is the only way to avoid costly repairs.
