Hardship or Penalty: How many cars are allowed by law to be overtaken in one maneuver
Oil painting: on a country road is a procession of trucks, which you just want to overtake, preferably in one fell swoop. Admittedly, this does not always work. However, in a number of cases, the traffic rules do not allow such a maneuver. The AvtoVzglyad portal detected the nuances of advancing passing cars in the oncoming lane.

First of all, it should be remembered that according to the traffic rules, overtaking is considered a maneuver in which the car enters the lane intended for oncoming traffic. If the driver has the ability to get around the passing car without crossing the markings separating the lane, this is only interpreted as an advance. Let’s say the roadway is “broken” with multiple lanes in each of the directions.

But let’s go back to overtaking, when a maneuver requires an oncoming vehicle, provided there are no prohibition signs and road markings. What distance the driver actually has to drive in the lane for oncoming cars, as well as the number of overtaken cars at one time, is not indicated in the traffic rules. The main thing is not to violate the speed limit and not create emergency situations for other road users. Admittedly, in fact, not everything is as transparent as it seems.

The rules prohibit overtaking any vehicle whose driver has indicated with a turn signal that he wants to overtake a slow-moving vehicle or has already started entering the oncoming lane before that. A similar principle also applies when the following car has started to overtake. In any of these situations, overtaking with a departure to the oncoming lane, we repeat, is prohibited.

By the way, many motorists confuse the so-called double overtaking maneuver with the cases listed above – motorists are sure that the ban applies to overtaking more than one car in one maneuver. But as you have already understood, we are talking about something completely different.

It would be useful to add that under clause 11.2 of the SDA riding on a “train” also applies to motorcyclists. To those who leave to bypass passing vehicles to the “oncoming traffic”, and to those who want to do this on their own, but have no right if one of the other road users, including motorcyclists, is already overtaking. In addition, it is important that each vehicle is in the zone of visual range at the same time.

For misplacing – be it a car or a moped – on the carriageway, as well as for “driving into a lane intended for oncoming traffic in violation of traffic regulations, while avoiding an obstacle”, a very heavy fine of 5,000 rubles are provided. Let’s say more: according to part 4 of article 12.15 of the Administrative Code, double overtaking, imposed by the highway authorities in such situations, risks the driver being immediately without “driving licences” for a period of four to six months.

And it is unlikely that your requests for understanding and forgiveness will be taken into account by Themis, who will advise the dispossessed to stop “getting confused in concepts” and learn material. In addition, if you want to get behind the wheel again, after the expiration of the “freezing” period for a driver’s license, the latter will have to pass another theory test for knowledge of traffic rules.
