Creating artificial scarcity is the best way to drive up prices. In addition, you can safely release them into the air, because the customer has nowhere to go.

Creating artificial scarcity is the best way to drive up prices. In addition, you can safely release them into the air, because the customer has nowhere to go. Russian car dealerships are disconnected from the global network of software – far from everyone can already “sew blocks”, therefore specialists who can perform such a procedure today really demand a lot for their services. But without their help, you can’t even recover the lost keychain.

One of the most severe sanctions imposed on Russia and its citizens was the massive shutdown of Russian dealers – not just car dealers, by the way – from the global software system. Many different service centers used the original software – everyone is honest and the law strictly followed the “pirates” – with servers far beyond the borders of our country.

Once the channels were turned off, the repairmen went unarmed. One of the most striking examples is Mercedes-Benz, whose gas stations connected to German servers to access the software needed for repairs. One day this access was blocked. It became impossible to flash, replace a part (the same airbag must be registered) or simply make a key.

Yes, the loss or breakdown of an ultra-modern “pass” for a car can now cost tens of thousands of rubles: at first there were problems with the “blanks” themselves, which still had to be found, ordered and waited, and then there were problems with the software. Dealers raised their hands and artisans found “alternative means” – the same ones that sometimes turn cars into real estate.

Let’s say Land Rover has a rather complicated way of binding a new key, strictly removing the last one from the block at a certain point. And if an amateur who does not know the intricacies or works with “crooked” programs takes up the matter, then a situation may arise when the car completely stops responding to all keys – old, new, original, “left “.

Of course, the adverb “impossible” has a very distant relationship with the Russian “Kulibins” and “left-handers”, because, as a rule, the more difficult it is for us, the more interesting it is. However, the very fact of the complete transfer of such procedures from official services to small service stations and “private hands” immediately increased their price. It is in demand – it is a shame to miss such an opportunity.

The blanks were brought from China – the quality is lower, the service life is shorter, but they are available. And they started prescribing through hacked or illegal programs. Yes, and via a VPN, which adds fuel to the fire: if free access “falls off” during work, things get really hot.

Some are lucky with artists, others are not. But the fact remains: making a new key to replace the lost one is now expensive. Especially when it comes to the keyless entry system or the famous Mercedes “fish”. With the “Japanese” and “Koreans” things are a little better, with the “Europeans” and “Americans” – problems. So we keep the keys as the apple of our eye – otherwise you have to pay generously and worry a lot.
