The Russian car market can be “lifted from the knees” by creating attractive conditions for Chinese car manufacturers. Such an idea, according to the AvtoVzglyad portal, was voiced by Viktor Zvagelsky, deputy chairman of the Russian-Chinese Committee of Friendship, Peace and Cooperation.
“It is necessary to establish preferences at the legislative level for car assembly and maintenance companies, to introduce a simplified and preferential system for customs clearance of car kits,” Mr. Zvagelsky suggested during a roundtable discussion on the topic “Problems when importing and certifying Cars on the Russian market.”
According to him, Chinese industrialists are reluctant to invest in production outside the Middle Kingdom. But Russia can become an exception to the established rule in this sense. Zvagelsky said that some Chinese state-owned enterprises are interested in joint investments in the establishment of Russian production facilities and the promotion of Chinese brands in the domestic market.
He believes that regional industrial support programs, such as those in the Moscow, Kaluga and Kaliningrad regions, should also be extended to Chinese companies.
