The Russians are already used to the exorbitant prices for brand new cars in the showrooms of official dealers, as well as the fact that cars up to two million rubles are now considered budget cars. Once upon a time, for this rather large amount of money, you could take a pretty decent D-class sedan or even a mid-sized crossover, but now … And what, with “two cartoons in your pocket”, can you buy now ? The AvtoVzglyad portal found the answer to this question by walking around the capital’s car dealerships.
The Chinese are actively conquering not only our market, but also dealers. So, in the Volkswagen showroom we found sedans of the new “heavenly” brand Kaiyi, in the Skoda showroom – premium Exeed, and where Nissan crossovers lived – Chery SUVs. The only pity is that the budget models of the “rescuers” from the PRC in the rows – one or two and miscalculated.
And literally. We visited the centers of four Chinese brands, but found only two cars that met our main requirement – they cost up to 2 million rubles, including all additional costs. However, we managed to find suitable options in other showrooms – Korean and, of course, domestic brands.
The Koreans were generally upset: the popular Kia Rio – both in the four-door and five-door versions of the Rio X – had completely disappeared from dealers. There are also no subcompact cheap Picantos. The minimum that you can count on in the Kia salon is a Cerato sedan with a manual transmission at a price of 2.4 million, and if you add 100-200 thousand, the Ceed hatchback is also affordable.
For sister Hyundai, the situation is even more favorable: you can still buy Solaris. And this is the only available model from those who previously proudly represented the class of affordable foreign cars that were in great demand. The news that dealers sold out all Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid unfortunately turned out to be true. At least that rather large metropolitan dealer we visited didn’t have them.
