Avtodor’s state-owned company manages not only to build new routes, but also to honor the exploits of his colleagues who fought for their homeland in the Great Patriotic War. It has a good tradition to hold a solemn wreath laying every year on the eve of the anniversary of the victory at the monument to the road builders on the 71st kilometer of the M1 “Belarus”. And 2022 is no exception.

– At the end of April 1942, on the 135th km of the Minsk highway, 7 road fighters engaged in an unequal battle with superior enemy forces. But at the cost of their own lives, they were able to slow the advance of the enemy troops and gain time to regroup our soldiers. And we, the road builders, who regularly gather at this monument, honor the memory of all those who died in the Great Patriotic War, all those who accomplished their feat of arms,” said Vyacheslav Petushenko, chairman of the board of directors of the state-owned company. Next to him the head of the Federal Road Agency Roman Novikov, the deputy head of the Main Inspectorate of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Oleg Ponaryin, the Minister of Transport of the Moscow Region Alexei Gerzhik, representatives of the Moscow Automobile and Road State Technical University (MADI), as well as veterans and students came to honor the memory of the road warriors.

By the way, the monument, where the wreath-laying ceremony is held annually, will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2022 – it was opened on May 7, 2002.
