Meta Corporation will launch a pilot project to integrate non-convertible tokens (NFTs) into the Instagram social network next week. CoinDesk writes about this by citing its own sources.
According to the post, Meta allegedly plans to add support for NFTs posted on Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and Flow to Instagram. However, it is not known whether the platform will work with all these networks in the first stage.
A limited number of US users will take part in the pilot project.
Journalists also noted that Meta plans to integrate Instagram with popular digital wallets like MetaMask. According to the announcement, the platform will not charge users for hosting and exchanging NFTs.
In January 2022, the Financial Times reported that the company plans to integrate NFTs into Facebook and Instagram, and is also working on a prototype platform to allow these digital assets to be published.
Recall that in March, the company’s president, Mark Zuckerberg, said that the NFT rendering functionality could appear on Instagram “in the coming months.”
