Users were invited to a website that Beeple allegedly had in partnership with fashion house Louis Vuitton.
Cybersecurity expert harry.eth from the MetaMask team stated that monitoring the connection led to an unauthorized withdrawal of funds from the user’s wallet. 35 ETH (~$71,200) was the spoils of the attackers.
Then, the hackers changed tactics and posted a new phishing link. As a result, the attackers received another 100 ETH and 45 NFTs. In total, users lost about $438,000 in assets.

Unidentified people held control for about five hours before they managed to restore the artist’s account.

Recall, in March 2021, Beeple sold Everydays: The First 5000 Days in NFT form for $60.3 million at Christie’s auction, with the buyer paying $69.3 million in fees.
In May 2022, the artist announced the release of a joint NFT collection with pop star Madonna.
