The Wormhole project team paid $10 million to a white-hat hacker who discovered a critical vulnerability in a cross-chain protocol. This was reported by the Immunefi platform, which launched the corresponding bounty program.

According to an Immunefi press release, on February 24, 2022, satya0x discovered a vulnerability in the smart contract underlying the Wormhole bridge next to the Ethereum blockchain. Abuse can potentially lead to users’ funds being blocked.

“The Wormhole team responded incredibly quickly to the bug report, investigated and fixed the issue the day it was reported. No user funds were lost,” Immunefi said in a statement.

For the bug discovered, satya0x received the maximum reward allowed under the Wormhole bounty program – $10 million In addition to the cross-chain protocol, only the MakerDAO platform offers such a reward.

Recall that in February 2022, hackers pulled over $319 million in digital assets from the Wormhole pool.
