The Beacon Chain network of the Ethereum 2.0 platform has been reworked to a depth of seven blocks.

“Unfortunately, this shows that the analysis of Georgios Constantopoulos and Vitalik Buterin was overly optimistic when they argued in the article that the stability of restructuring will improve in Proof-of-Work versus Proof-of-Work. Martin Koppelmann, co-founder of Gnosis, on Ethereum We haven’t seen a seven-block rebuild in many years.

As a result of the May 25 event, blocks #3,887,075 – #3,887.081 have been rearranged.

According to developer Preston Van Loon, the team believes the failure was due to “non-trivial segmentation” of new and old client software.

“We suspect this is due to the Proposer Boost fork not being fully implemented in the network,” he said.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin named that’s a “good hypothesis”.

Another lead developer, Terence Cao, confirmed that the rebuild is possible due to the different timing of client software updates. According to their calculations, about 75% of the nodes implemented Proposer Boost and 25% did not.

“There was a 0.25 chance of such an event.6for it to happen. So this is a big coincidence, ”the expert emphasized.

Recall that the developers looked for August as the most likely date for Ethereum’s transition to the Proof of Stake consensus algorithm.

In June, the Ropsten testnet will be transferred to it.
