Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth said the company plans to more closely integrate AI teams across products and not use the division as a centralized organization.
“The changes are designed to implement the latest AI technologies across the company,” he said.
The FAIR research team, led by Meta Chief AI Scientist Jan LeCun, will join Reality Labs to combine resources from the Augmented and Virtual Reality division.
“Central approaches exceed their limits when the last kilometer is too far for teams to close the gap,” Bosworth wrote.
He added that the new structure will push the boundaries of what artificial intelligence can do and use technology to create new features and products for billions of people.
Recall that in May Meta opened its first offline store.
In April, a former employee of the company warned of the threat to privacy in the metaverse.
