Argentine customs officers confiscated a large amount of mining equipment. This was reported by the local edition of Ambito.
The reason for this was the inconsistency between the prices of the devices. The customs administration stated that the equipment to be imported into the country is estimated at an average of 10,000 dollars per unit, while the average costs do not exceed 7,700 dollars.
We are talking about 2233 Whatsminer miners with a total value of 21.9 million dollars. The difference between the calculations given during import and the actual cost is around 5 million dollars. An additional examination will be made for more accurate calculations.
It was reported last year that the popularity of mining in Argentina has increased due to very low electricity prices.
In April 2022, the commune of Serodino in Argentina’s Santa Fe province decided to mine cryptocurrencies to combat a protracted economic crisis.
