Microsoft has introduced a number of new features for Microsoft Teams for the Internet on its blog. These new features are pretty basic and already available in Teams desktop clients.

But for the first time, users of Microsoft Teams for the Internet will be able to use features such as background effects. Internet commands now allow users to blur their background during a meeting or use the background provided by Microsoft. That’s what Microsoft promised last year, and it took almost a year for the software giant to deliver on its promise.

Microsoft highlighted another important feature. The Teams web client will now allow users to “view subtitles (real-time subtitles) from the CART provider in the Microsoft Teams meeting window instead of an additional window”. Users can enable CART signature in meeting settings.

Direct caption support is another useful feature that Teams users have wanted online for a long time. And Microsoft has finally added it, allowing users to “see who is speaking to what is being said”. Currently, direct subtitle support is available in many spoken languages, including German, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Hindi and more.

Finally, Microsoft introduced Live Transcript support, which allows users to “watch and view conversations in real time along with video or audio meetings.” Late attendees can read the transcript to learn what was discussed earlier in the meeting. It can also be beneficial for participants who are deaf or speak different languages. Source
