The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), in partnership with cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com, will begin paying out bonuses in bitcoin to fighters who receive audience rewards.
The first such event will have a prize fund of $60,000 and will be held on April 9 in Jacksonville, Florida, as part of UFC 273.
The prize will be distributed as follows:
- 1st place β $30,000;
- 2nd place β $20,000;
- 3rd place – $10,000.
Winners will receive a fixed amount of bitcoin in US dollars. Transactions will be made via Crypto.com.
Voting will include early access to the NFT drop, UFC gift cards, and a free three-month subscription draw.
The UFC will retain traditional fiat bonuses, including best fight of the night and individual performance.
Recall that League of Mixed Martial Arts and Crypto.com entered into a partnership agreement in July 2021. The collaboration includes the placement of the platform logo on the fighters’ uniforms, as well as seconds and octagon girls’ outfits.
In November 2021, Crypto.com released the first NFTs for the UFC.
The platform previously signed sponsorship deals with Formula 1 and one of its stables, Aston Martin Cognizant. Crypto.com also partners with the UFC, Serie A Italy, Paris Saint-Germain, Philadelphia 76ers and Montreal Canadiens.
In March 2022, Crypto.com became the official sponsor of the World Cup in Qatar.
