Researchers in China have developed artificial intelligence that “reads the minds” of Communist Party (CCP) members and determines their allegiance. The Times writes about it.
The system can read people’s facial expressions and “brain waves” while viewing party information materials.
According to the publication, at least 43 members of the CCP passed the test. The subject entered a private cabinet and sat in front of a screen displaying materials promoting the party’s policies and achievements.
The developers did not provide detailed information about the structure of the system and the functioning of the mind-reading algorithms.
A paper describing the system was published by the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center on July 1, 2022. Soon, the work was removed from the net, possibly due to growing public discontent.
This is not the first attempt by PRC officials to increase ideological propaganda. The party previously launched the “Learn to Strengthen China” app, where approximately 97 million CCP members will earn points by watching articles, videos and answering questions.
Users have to meet a daily quota of 40 points and can exchange this quota for various gifts such as pastries or electronics from the nearest cafe.
Recall that in June, Chinese authorities used apps to track the spread of the coronavirus to quell the protest of deceived depositors.
